The repair date was July 21, not long enough to test the problem! On July 24 my battery level was 72% and on July 30 it is 62%. After 40 minutes of use (Using HP Recommended Power setting) my battery level dropped to 55%. Obviously HP has a problem with batteries draining when the computer is not in use and they are acting like everything is fine. While I was in the battery dept the chap mentioned a parasitic load test just to check the car. He thought the drain should not be more than 150 milli amp. I am getting around 300 milli amp. I am getting 14.3 VDC from the alternator when its running and the battery is holding 12.3 VDC static so the charging circuit is fine. This type of drain is called a parasitic drain. Parasitic drains below 75 milliamps are normal, but any parasitic drain over 75 milliamps will drain the battery quickly. The most common causes of parasitic drain are under hood lights, trunk lights, headlights or glove box lights that do not turn off when the door is closed. May 29, 2016 · It sounds like I could fix it. Can this issue explain the draw ? I didn't check the schema for this one. Other informations: a- my alternator seems fine: 14.5V when the car is on. b- I cleaned my battery terminals c- I will have to replace my battery, max is 12.2V, but first I want to solve the parasitic draw. What should I test next ?

This new battery drain is a whopping 2.2 amps. I discovered that if I remove Fuse 30 in the engine bay fuse box (one of those maxi fuses...see attached picture) the I'm new...so If I should post elsewhere I figure someone will point that out. I have a parasitic battery drain in my 2004 SAAB 9-3 also. With the exception of the battery tester, I can tell with 100% certainty that currently, nothing else is running to drain the battery. The battery tester can test the charging too in 2 situations, when in idle and in high RPM. Last sunday, charging is at 13.65V in idle speed, and13.84V in high RPM. Jan 09, 2020 · App activity. While some apps legitimately need a lot of background time to function (such as the Tile app in the image above), this can also signify a problem, and could cause battery drain.

Normal parasitic loads are below 75 milliamps (.075 amps). When the parasitic load is greater than 150 milliamps (.150 amps), batteries will drain more quickly. Please note that on newer vehicles, the parasitic drain will vary because the control unit will manage the load and are generally greater on vehicles with larger batteries.
